2018 New Years Resolutions

Posted on

Happy 2018! Last year, I had an extensive list of goals and resolutions.  I never went back and checked them so it was sort of pointless.  This year I’m changing things up and instead of listing out a bunch of goals, I’m just going to focus on one thing-taking care of myself!

I spent the better part of December sick (thanks preschool germs).  I spent the better part of 2017 going through a semi-diabetes burnout.  I didn’t exercise; I didn’t eat right.  I didn’t take care of myself.

This year I want to make my health a priority.  I want to upload my CGM data weekly.  I want to eat better.  I want to be active.  I want to drink more water.  I want to keep my A1C below 7! Speaking of A1C’s, I started my new year at the endocrinologist.  I got my latest A1C and it was 7.0.  I was honestly surprised by that because in October and November, my blood sugars were awful.  I think I can thank the new insulin pump/CGM system for improved blood sugars in December and helping to lower my A1C.

I’m not going to make any goals.  I’m a person who works well with goals so I don’t know how this will pan out.  Maybe I’ll make weekly or monthly goals but my ultimate resolution is to take better care of myself.

However, I would love, if by the end of 2018, I learned how to make a wreath.  That will be my one goal for the year! I ultimately want one wreath per month, a snow wreath (January), a Valentine’s wreath (February), a St Patty’s wreath (March), etc. Let’s hope I can make that happen!

What are your resolutions for the year?

2018 started with a snow day! (that turned into too many snow days/cold days)

  1. I made a resolution last year and did not make it. I resolved to ride 25 laps around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on my bicycle at the local Tour De Cure. Because of wind and time I only made 13. Still that was 32 miles and the day was very rough.

Still this year I will be doing two goals. 25 laps (62 miles) around IMS and I want to parachute out of an airplane the first time.
