8 Months Postpartum

Posted on

My little guy turned 8 months old yesterday!  Time sure is flying by! I can’t believe only 4 months until he is one year old-eeek!!  We don’t go to the doctor until month 9 so I’m not sure how he is doing in weight and height but I don’t think he is having any problems.  We also switched out of the infant car seat into the convertible and lowered his crib this past weekend-he is growing too fast!

He is at such a fun age now.  He said Mama for the first time about two weeks ago and he has been saying it non-stop since! He is crawling around a room at full speed!  I seriously have to keep my eye on him.  He is rolling, crawling, rotating, etc.  He still doesn’t have any teeth, which is fine by me right now since I’m still breastfeeding.  Love bug has also been eating every single flavor of purees there are, but he doesn’t like solid food too much.  We have attempted a few solids and it sticks to his tongue, causing him to freak out and throw up, yeah not so much fun.IMG_7387

We took swim lessons a few weeks ago.  There were 8 classes total, each 30 minutes long.  He wasn’t learning any swim strokes but he did put his head under the water, which I think was more difficult for me than him haha.

We were REALLY struggling with sleep so I actually hired a sleep consultant, who worked wonders!  My son actually takes over hour long naps now and sleeps about 12 hours overnight, waking up once to feed.  It’s been such a blessing.  The only downside is that he goes to bed between 5 and 6 overnight and is up by 6AM usually so its a pretty early day for me.

I’m hanging in there as well.  Now that I’m getting a little more sleep at night, I’m able to function a little better during the day and I can also get more work done during the day while he takes longer naps which has been a HUGE help.

My blood sugars aren’t the best but I’m able to focus on them a little more now that we are all getting sleep.  Honestly, now that sleep is going a little better, it’s made such a difference!  I’m hoping to keep the momentum going in lowering my blood sugars.

It’s a pretty fun time right now with my buddy :).  Hope everyone had a great 4th of July!

Happy 4th of July!

  1. Sleep is so key, you’re right! When sleep goes awry, my blood sugar spikes so hard! Thanks for sharing the parenting journey!
