Happy 2015 all! 2014 will be a hard year to top but it was such a great year that I ended up failing on most of my resolutions so I’m going to try and do better this year. I’m trying to not be too optimistic but I also want to achieve some pretty big things this year. So here are what I’m going to try to achieve this year:
-Make one new recipe per week (or per month depending on what my little one allows me to do)
-Read 40 books (I aimed for 50 books in 2014 but fell short only reading 43 so I’m trying to be a little more realistic this year)
-Walk/run at least 2 miles per day-I am hoping to do more but this is a start-last year I was overly ambitious with wanting to walk 8,000 steps per day, which really shouldn’t be too ambitious but it was so I think 2 miles per day might be a little bit more achievable. This goal means actually going outside for a walk not counting the walking I do normally throughout the day.
-Keep my A1C below seven-This was “easy” to achieve because my son provided great motivation and now that I’ve given birth, it’s been a lot harder to keep my blood sugars in control so I’m hoping this goal isn’t too big a goal to reach.
-Change my lancet at least once a month (although more would be better)
-Minimize alcohol drinking-I actually didn’t miss drinking alcohol at all when I was pregnant (other than those first few weeks) so I’m hoping to keep the momentum going. I don’t have a problem with drinking but it will be healthier to cut it out (less calories) and it will save some money.
-Try to blog once per week or at least 4 times per month-I have no idea what my life is going to bring with my newborn. I work from home so my “maternity” leave is essentially over and I’m trying to find time to do work but it’s hard with my son. I’m hoping to find time to not only get work done but to also find time some time to blog. So far, it’s been pretty hard to find time (although my son is sleeping now so I’m able to get a little writing in) but I’m hoping it will get easier as schedules become more established.
And of course my number one goal for 2015 is to raise a happy, healthy baby. He turned 8 weeks old this week and I still can’t believe that much time has passed! He has his 2 month appointment next week and he is smiling and noticing things; it’s pretty amazing to see his growth but I’m sad that the time is going by so fast and knowing it’s only going to keep speeding up.
Hopefully these goals won’t be unattainable and I’ll look back at the end of the year celebrating en español!
Cheers to the new year!
