OK, so I’ve written posts in the past on how to get Carelink to work on a Mac. Why must they make this so difficult?! Those posts, however, were from last year and since then, Mac has come out with a new platform, Mac OS X 10.9.2, so again it’s not working. I heard someone at the Diabetes Sisters conference this past weekend mention not being able to get it to work so they are using a PC now. To me that’s crazy that you have to change your computing needs to get this software to work. Other people in the Twitter world have posed questions on how to get it to work and Minimed responded with the fact that it takes time to get approval for the website which seems a little odd to me because how long do they need?! It’s been an issue for a while.
Anyway, I’ve put together my work around that seems to getting Carelink to Work on a Mac if you have version 10.9.2. If you take these steps and still have problems, let me know. I might be leaving out a part that I have done previously but these are the steps I take EVERY time I log onto Carelink and it does the trick.
First, I’m only using Safari. I haven’t tried to get other web browsers to work. So if you are having trouble with your Mac, try this with Safari, otherwise I can’t help. Make sure all Safari windows are closed (probably not necessary but helps).
Go to the top menu bar and select Develop then User Agent then Other
When you select Other, you will get this screen. Change the 9 to an 8 and then Carelink should work.
If you are still having problems, it could be because Java is not updated. You will find out if that’s the case when you go to upload your pump. My old post on getting Java to work might help.
*Oh and in case you don’t see the developer tab at the top, you can go to your system preferences and add it:
Hope this helps all those with Carelink/Mac troubles!
