Diabetes Awareness Month Photo-a-Day 6

Posted on

Happy Thanksgiving!! (a day late) Last week, I started the Diabetes Awareness Month Photo-a-Day challenge that Kerri at Six Until Me created.  Today, I am catching up on Days 16-22.

Day 16-BloodDay 16-blood

The main time I see blood is when I do my continuous glucose monitor.  I think I’ve finally figured out how to do it without bleeding but when it happens, it gushes-no fun!

One of the best things I learned from the DOC (Diabetes Online Community) was that I could re-start my CGM sensor to get another 3 days out of it.  Before I learned this, I was hating my CGM because I hated having to change the needle every three days.  Being able to “trick” the sensor has allowed me to get 6 days out of it and therefore I use it a lot more, which has been great for my diabetes control.

Day 18-FrustrationDay 18-Frustration

I HATE seeing this.  This is the error when my test strip doesn’t get enough blood.  Sometimes I get the error even when I have completely filled the strip with blood-grrr.

Day 19-ChronicDay 19-chronic

As long as I have my chronic illness, I will always need to monitor my blood sugar.  Hopefully in the future, I will get away from having to test but in the meantime, I go through about 12 strips per day.

Day 20-HealthyDay 20-Healthy

I did a clean eating challenge back in September, and walnut basil chicken was one of my favorite things to make that was “healthy” to eat under the plan.

Day 21-SweetDay 21-Sweet

I love Sweet Frog when I’m in the mood for something sweet. 🙂

Day 22-Happy

Day 22-Happy

I am always happy when I see this.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!
