Race day weekend has arrived! Sunday, I compete in my first ever Army Ten Miler race. Not only is it my first ever ATM but it’s also my first time ever running ten miles. I’ve been training for the half marathon, which is in November, so hopefully my hard work will pay off Sunday and I will get a good time. I’m running about an 11′-11’30″/mile pace so I’m hoping to finish in less than 2 hours. I’m hoping my blood sugar cooperates but I also plan on using a temp basal and taking a lot of fruit snacks with me to eat along the way.
Luckily, the government is no longer shut down so the race course isn’t altered. It should be a beautiful run around the monuments and a crisp, cool morning. One of my favorite things about signing up for the ATM has been the training shirts they gave us that say Never Quit. I’m going to remember that as I head into the race on Sunday.
