Testing my blood sugar in Tallinn, Estonia

Last week, I got back from a 2 week vacation in Amsterdam and cruising along the Baltic Sea.  Unfortunately, my diabetes didn’t take a vacation and I ended up being quite low in Tallinn, Estonia (blood glucose was 56!).

  1. Ugh, I hate lows on vacation! My husband and I still talk about the “Tulum Ruins” debacle that happened on our cruise. We went on an excursion there, and by the time we were within a half mile or so of getting on the ship, I’d exhausted all my low-treatment sugary supplies and was limping along just trying to get somewhere to get food before I completely passed out. (We made it, obviously 🙂 ) Would love to see more pics from Estonia! It’s on my list of places to go.

    • Oh yikes! Glad you made it! It does get really scary when you run out of low supplies, or in my case usually, forget to bring low supplies (I’m trying to get better about that now that I’m lower overall). Estonia was gorgeous! We only saw the Old Town part of Tallinn but it was my favorite city. It was so beautiful 🙂 I’ll try to post some more photos.

      • Totally agree, haven’t had the luxury to travel since being diagnosed 6 years ago, but I’m imagining it must be quite a task. Knowing me I would have boxes of cgm’s, pods, and insulin with me lol
