I know Easter was a few days ago, but seeing my neighborhood children hunt around for Easter eggs reminded me of my everyday life. You are probably wondering why an Easter egg hunt would remind me of Type 1 Diabetes but for me, my test strips remind me of Easter eggs. While I am not necessarily searching for them, they tend to pop up and appear in the most random places. I’m not sure if other Type 1 Diabetics go through what I do, but everyday I find test strips (or eggs in this analogy) all over the place. Sometimes beside my bed, sometimes on the kitchen floor, sometimes in the garage or randomly under my car seat. Whenever I go to clean the house, I always find more than expected. I will admit that when I test my blood sugar, I do usually leave the test strips in my test kit case because often I am too lazy to walk over to the trash can. The down side to being lazy though is that the test strips end up accumulating in my kit case until I move the case and some fall out. Like most parents whose kids haven’t found all the eggs, my husband loves finding test strips randomly around the house.
