I mentioned in my half marathon post last week that I traveled to California for my 30th birthday back in January. My 30th birthday trip was two weeks long and I spent the first week in California and the second week in Utah. Both were a lot of fun but the California portion of the trip had the added benefit of having friends and family traveling with my husband and I.
It was a very fun week in California. It was also a pretty jam-packed week. We started in San Diego, then stopped in Carlsbad to run the half marathon, then drove up the coast to Los Angeles. Rather than go into a lengthy recap, I thought I would just share some photos from the fun week:
Day 3: Sunday-my 30th birthday!! Ran half marathon in the morning before celebrating with a birthday lunch followed by driving back down to La Jolla to catch a beautiful sunset before birthday dinner.
Day 4: Monday-Started the morning by saying hi to the seals in La Jolla and bye to my mom and sister, before sneaking our way into the Farmers Insurance Open (the PGA tournament was starting on Wednesday so it was closed to the public for golfer’s to practice, my husband and I somehow were allowed in and we were the only ones without a pass!) then headed up the coast to LA.
Day 5: Tuesday-Went to brunch with friends before saying goodbye then headed to Venice Beach. After Venice Beach we headed to Rodeo Drive and did some window shopping before heading to CBS Studio Center to watch the Last Man Standing taping (which was a lot of fun but no photos were allowed).
Day 6: Wednesday-Started the morning with a tour of the Warner Brothers Studio then waited in line to get into the Tonight Show taping. We were one of the last people let in but somehow got front row seats!
Day 8: Friday-Left for Utah to begin second week of vacation!
It was an amazing week out in California. I had so much fun having friends and family there to celebrate turning 30 with me. I didn’t have any issues going through airport security which was nice. However, I wasn’t too concerned about my blood sugars while in California and unfortunately they reacted accordingly:
